A neighbor of Green Views Apartments, Nyaho Medical Centre, one of Ghana’s Health Service facilities, has opened a new ultramodern Mother and Child Unit with a six-station Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a five-station Adult Intensive Care Unit christened ‘Janet Wing’ to aid in safe delivery of babies.

The new unit at Nyaho Medical Centre, together with all other facilities at the hospital, have also been fully connected to solar energy system, through partnership with Ecoligo and Dutch and Co, to offer consistent and uninterrupted power supply with a back-up of the national grid, industrial grade UPS, and generators.

The seven-bedded maternity unit is made up of a delivery suite and shared rooms equipped with fully automated delivery beds for labour and specifically designed for the comfort and well-being of both the mother and other family members.

In partnership with GE Healthcare, the Mother and Child unit, NICU and ICU are equipped with the most comprehensive medical equipment including adult pediatric ventilators, adult vital organ support, maternal and fetal monitors to closely support and pick up any variations in the mother and child during the birthing process, and radiant warmers for babies, among other equipment.

The GH¢8 million project – including the infrastructure and the medical equipment – according to Managing Director of the hospital, Dr. Elikem Tamakloe, is to transform the lives of patients and their families by exceeding expectations in healthcare and inspiring hope for a better Africa.

Dr. Tamakloe further stated that the inauguration of the new facility is a response to requests made by patients of the hospital who wanted improved services regarding maternal care.

“It is through the partnership of our specialist and nursing communities, their commitment to quality improvement and safety, and by actively listening and learning from our patients and their families, that we have been able to improve our practice of care and reach this significant milestone.

There are limited facilities that offer such comprehensive services in Ghana when the need is great. However, Nyaho Medical Centre expanded its emergency unit from a four bedded to a ten bedded facility as part of the transformation journey and plans to expand into other parts of Ghana,” he said.

We at Green Views are excited about the opening of this new facility as it will offer our expatriate community living on our apartment the kind of excellent healthcare service delivery they expect.
