We know most of our tenants are internationals and usually have their holidays outside the country of Ghana. But for those who, for some reasons, will stay behind are not worse off at all. You have the opportunity to visit the Kwahu Paragliding site this April.
This tourist site, located at Atibie Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana, is unique for one thing— it is the only place in Ghana where paragliding takes place.
The first paragliding festival took place in March 2005. The festival is always scheduled during the Easter season as thousands of Ghanaians troop to the Kwahu ridge, known locally as ‘Odweanoma’ to relax and enjoy themselves. Musicians, actors, politicians, business people, and indigenes of the community who have traveled far way all take time off work to visit their family and friends and also relax.
During this time, the government sponsors experienced paragliding pilots to come and fly tourists and entertain the crowd that gathers at the site with their exciting display of flying skills. Pilots, not only fly to display their skills but also, take along tourists who are interested to explore and have a feel of paragliding.
Hundreds of spectators gathered at the site shout with applause when the pilots gather momentum from the apex of the mountain and run downwards to take a breathtaking flight into the skies, often along with another passenger. This year’s prices range from US$60-120 for tourists interested in flying with the pilots.
The Easter has become a boost to the local economy as many food vendors, taxi drivers, musicians, hotel owners, among others cash-in on the business opportunities created with the trooping in of many tourists.
Accommodation is no problem at all as many investors have constructed ultramodern hotels and motels to house tourists and provide them with the needed comfort throughout their stay. So, you have another reason to stay in Ghana for this holiday. Make a trip to this iconic site in Ghana—the Kwahu Paragliding Site!
